I quickly needed a tool to compare two Xml files (both 59K). I downloaded and installed multiple. FreeDiff, sorry to say so, reported a buffer too small error. Since the testfiles were 59K, and definitve ones would be > 2 M i stopped using it.

Sorry because it lloked quite nice and promising.

The user interface is quite old fashioned and not that intuitive in my opinion. Also, the diff view is not always as obvious as many other diff viewers.

Great tool!

A quick search on the web gave me just the tool i needed in my new job. I wanted to compare files to learn about the new SW I am supposed to maintain. I like the simplicity of the user interface. I am a rather old man (52) so I do not fancy artistic user interfaces where it is difficult to find the right buttons. Just the tool I needed, and it took me about a quarter of an hour from I stareted to search on Google until I had it up running on my PC.

Freedif a quick get up to speed tool

I needed to check several files for subtle differences. Downloaded Freedif, pointed to the files., looked at the differences, job done. It took less than 10 minutes. from the time I found a link to the time I as done.

It did an excellent job of showing the differences.

Better than DOS comp

I used this to compare large data files (EPA compliance reports) and found it to be more than adequate, and definitely easier than command shell options.

FreeDiff does it

FreeDiff works quite well and is very easy to use. This program saved me having to read the two revisions simotaneously and look for every slight differences.

Crashed my PC

After installation I loaded up two 57KB XML files to compare. The application crashed with an out of memory error and froze my PC which required a hard re-boot. It appeared to have overflowed into the display driver's allocated memory. Nasty bug!

FreeDiff met expectations

Installation was quick and easy. UI took a minute or two to figure out but fairly intuitive. I was looking for a tool to graphically compare large csv output files and this has met every expectation. Thank you.

To compare the previous and current version of .c and .h files.

2. how this program helps to solve your task?
Tracking of the changes particularly one which might have occured inadvertently is really a big problem in development projects. Usage of this tool really reduces the time.
